JOURNEY ACROSS THE SEAS

This project was created by me as my major project. The brief and scope of the project was decided by myself, with the guidance of my teachers.

For this project the idea was to create the branded pieces for a hypothetical exhibition, that would tell the stories of the people who were forced to leave their homeland Estonia during WWII and journey across the Baltic Sea to Sweden. The inspiration, stories and imagery for this project came from my grandparents, who made that very journey over the sea in 1944.

Throughout the project it was important that the feel of the catalogue, logotype, posters, tickets and postcards were accurate to the time the stories take place, while also showing that this is told today.

By combining the old imagery and taking inspiration from WWII stamps, postcards and travel documents, the project can tell the story without having to rely on text to convey the feel and message.
